Skin Tag Removal

Experience your treatment with Maison Aesthetique

Skin tags (acrochordons) are small flesh-coloured or brown growths that hang off the skin and look a bit like warts. They’re very common and harmless and don’t usually cause pain or discomfort. They are found on the neck, chest, back, armpits, under the breasts, or in the groin area. They can be as small as a couple of millimetres or may grow as big as a ten pence piece. Skin tags are harmless, however you may want to get them removed if they are unsightly and affect your self-esteem, or if they snag on clothing or jewellery. We can remove skin tags using Diathermy or electrosurgery.

  • How are skin tags treated?

Your doctor can remove a skin tag by cutting it off with a scalpel or scissors, or with electrosurgery (burning it off with an electric current).

  • What is Diathermy?

Short Wave Diathermy or Advanced Electrolysis is used to treat unwanted skin blemishes, such as warts, skin tags, moles and other benign growths, as well as thread veins and vascular conditions with no mark left on the skin. The heat that can be produced by diathermy may be used to destroy skin tags warts, and infected tissues and to treat dilated capillaries.

  • How do they occur?

Some people are more prone to develop skin tags than others. Doctors believe that it may have something to do with genetics since they tend to run in families. They also seem to be more prevalent in overweight people and tend to increase during pregnancy due to changing hormones.

  • What is the procedure for skin tag removal?

Skin tag removal treatment with short wave diathermy involves a fine hair-like needle applied to the area. This needle conducts an electrical current, causing the blood in the capillaries to clot and the vein to heal closed. The sensation is only mildly uncomfortable. Local anaesthetic cream will be used to reduce any discomfort.

  • What are the benefits?

Short wave diathermy is a safe, comfortable and highly effective procedure. This is successful treatment for clearing your skin’s texture and helps clients to feel better about their general appearance.

"Hi Rupal, I wanted to thank you for your guidance’s on treatment last November and how pleased I have been with the results. When someone said that they thought I was in my early 40’s when i am in fact now 57 was a nice surprise."
