Non Surgical Nose Reshaping
As we age the tip of the nose starts to droop. This can be lifted and supported using a small dose of Botox and a small amount of dermal filler. The width of nostrils is ideally the same as the distance between the inner corners of the eyes. For some clients the nasal width is greater. This can be refined with a micro treatment of Botox. Irregularities in the line of of the bridge of the nose can be straightened using dermal fillers.
Similarly asymmetries of the nose can be addressed. By using dermal filler such as Juvederm Ultra we can reshape and contour the nose to achieve results that were previously only ever possible with plastic surgery. Non-surgical nose reshaping is mainly suitable for those who need refinement of their nose shape – we cannot of course make a large nose smaller with this treatment.
The huge benefits of our Non Surgical nose job is that the procedure is quick and the results are natural and balanced without having to undergo any invasive surgery. This finally provides patients with a Non Surgical option and has proven very popular with those who feel plastic surgery is not right for them.
Lip Enhancement
Full well defined lips are the touchstone of a beautiful smile. As we age we lose volume in the lips, the shape becomes less sharp and lipstick lines bleed into the skin surrounding the lips. We can rejuvenate lips using a resorbable dermal filler such as Juvederm Volbella which in our opinion is the gold standard. The result lasts between six to twelve months after which a further treatment maintains the enhancement.
We have all seen the overdone look where the lips appear clown like and out of balance with the rest of the face. We pride ourselves at Maison Aesthetique in focussing on a natural look to your lips that emphasises the attractive features while subtly reshaping those areas that time and nature have taken away.
It is important to maintain the V shaped Cupid’s bow in the centre of the upper lip whilst keeping the corners of the mouth razor sharp. We also maintain the ratio of the volume of the upper to lower lip of 1: 1.5 in other words the lower lip is fuller than the upper.
With time the corners of the mouth droop downwards. This is largely due to the pull of a muscle that runs from the corner of the mouth to the jaw line. By targeting this with a muscle relaxant such as Botox we can relieve the tension in this muscle and allow the corners of the mouth to return to the more youthful elevated look.
We are all individual so we like you to have a full consultation before treatment to ensure that we produce the very best result for you.
Nose to Mouth Lines
Nasolabial lines that track from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth are the result of loss of volume over time. Dermal fillers effectively replace the lost volume and help to lift the corners of the mouth. In some cases the enhancement can be improved further with a small amount of Botox.
Smokers’ Lines
With the passage of time we develop vertical lines along the top lip and less so around the lower lip. These so-called smokers’ lines ( whether or not we are smokers) are caused by the action of the orbicularis oris muscle that acts like a purse string. This is obviously an important functional muscle and it is important to preserve its action. Treatment can involve micro Botox to soften the surface texture and fine filler along the individual lines. An additional treatment option is the use of Retinol products or micro-needling to smooth and enhance the surface texture.
Chin Augmentation & Reshaping
The forward projection of the chin can be enhanced with dermal fillers placed in the central most portion of the chin. Ideally a straight line touching the tip of the nose and the lips will also touch the chin. Filler can be used to enhance the areas either side of the chin towards the ‘Marionette’ lines to give the lower face more balance. Filler placed deeply on the most ‘Southerly’ point of the chin will lengthen its appearance. Dermal filler placed in the soft tissue beneath the chin will rotate it forwards and shorten it.
Filler can supplement Botox to reduce the labio-mental fold: the hollow between the lower lip and the chin.
Cheek Bone Augmentation
The cheek bone can be enhanced using dermal fillers such as Vilify or Voluma. This is usually in three sites: laterally from just under the corner of the eye, secondly at the point of maximum curvature and thirdly in the mid pupil line in the flattened area of the ‘tear trough’.
The effect is very flattering and sculpts the face, enhancing the ‘triangle of youth’: broadening the top of the triangle. The effect is similar to the look of the actress Cameron Diaz who has naturally occurring well-defined cheekbones.
Cheek Enhancement
Dermal fillers can replace lost volume and smooth the surface texture of the soft part of the cheek below the cheekbone. Smile lines on the cheek can be de-emphasised too with delicate use of a Micro-Botox procedure.
See ‘Cheek Bone Enhancement’ for more details.
Marionette lines around the chin
Marionette lines are the deep vertical lines that extend downwards from the corners of your mouth. They get their name because they look like the lines seen on a marionette’s mouth. Many people are particularly self-conscious about their marionette lines because they give your face a turned down, sad appearance.
By injecting Botox into the corners of your mouth, we can improve the appearance of marionette lines and help get rid of that sad, tired look which may be ageing your face.
Saggy Skin
As we age the skin loses its tone and texture and there is loss of collagen, elastin and sub dermal fat. This gives rise to a saggy appearance with loss of definition of the jaw line and a tendency for the tissues to migrate ‘South’.
We can counter this with a number of procedures. Muscle relaxants such as Botox can target the muscles that pull downwards. We can use dermal fillers such as the Juvederm range to supplement and support the tissues of the face particularly around the cheekbone area.
The celebrated ‘eight point face lift’ devised by the world famous practitioner and our training guru, Dr. Mauricio de Maio produces a result that is usually only seen after a surgical approach.
Micro-needling will stimulate a cascade of growth factors and the formation of new collagen to give resilience and lift to the face. We can also work form the surface of the skin downwards offering our fabulous range of Jan Marini cosmeceutical products to rehydrate and improve skin laxity.
Deep Frown Lines
Frown lines are caused by the Corrugator Muscles pulling the brow down and inwards. Botox is the first treatment of choice. If the frown lines are obvious at rest too, superficial use of a fine Dermal Filler such as Juvederm Ultra 2 is helpful. An important anatomical point of interest is that the Corrugator muscles are overlaid by the lower part of the Frontalis or forehead muscle. So in treating frown lines the lower part of Frontalis is also inevitably treated with Botox too.
Interestingly, if only part of a muscle is treated with Botox, the untreated part may compensate by becoming over active. So, to avoid this in the case of the forehead muscle, when treating frown lines we also treat the upper part of the forehead to prevent formation of new lines near the hair line.
Hand Fillers
With time the backs of hands lose the ‘upholstery’ of collagen, hyaluronic acid, sub-dermal fat and elastin. It gives rise to a look where the veins and tendons are very prominent. The backs of hands and untreated necks tend to be the touchstones of ageing. This lost tissue can be replaced with a fine filler. In addition hand peels and micro needling very effectively resurface the skin on hands.
Eye Rejuvenation
Tear Trough. We are often asked, -”what can I do for my eye area?” Many people do not realise that we can dramatically improve the appearance of eyes using dermal fillers in the tear trough area and even possibly a combination of botox and filler around the eyes to create a natural, brighter appearance.
As the passage of time takes effect, we see certain common changes that we can treat to dramatically improve the appearance, if not diminish entirely. Common complaints are, heavy eyes, hooded eyelids, tired looking eyes, dark circles beneath the eyes and crows feet. We also hear complaints of the lack of volume and hollowing of the eyes. These changes occur due to the thinning of the overlying skin and soft tissue over the bony orbital rim and atrophy of the adjacent tissues and thinning of the skin occurs, leading to increased visibility of this deep attachment between the skin and orbital rim- the so called tear trough area.
Trough and lack of volume/dark hollows
Placing filler in this hollowing can smooth the area, increase the appearance of the dark circles and rejuvenate the area. Using the finest fillers – Juvederm injected safely into the ditching and then massaging is a very popular and effective way of dealing with the common complaint.
Eyebrow Lift
The position and shape of the eyebrows are critical in defining the face. Ideally the female eyebrow is ‘gull wing’ shaped and is sited above the bony rim of the eye socket. The highest point of the eyebrow curve is two thirds from the middle edge. Male eyebrows are lower and straighter. The shape and position of eyebrows is determined by one muscle: the frontalis pulling upwards and four sets of muscles pulling the eyebrows down. Careful use of Micro Botox can adjust this balance to lift and enhance eyebrow shape and position. This may be supplemented with Dermal Filler to help support the eyebrow.
The actual cosmetic eyebrow can be further defined by our HD Brows procedure.
Heavy Eyes
Using botox to lift the eyebrows can really help to open the eye area by relaxing the muscles pulling the eyes downwards and help lighten the look of hooded eyelids. Raising the Corners of the Mouth
The position of the corners of the mouth change with age. When we are young the corners point upwards. As we age the corners flatten and eventually angle downwards. This is due partly to loss of supporting collagen and elastin in the skin and particularly due to the pull of a muscle: the depressor anguli oris that runs diagonally from the corner of the mouth to the lower jaw.
Targeting this muscle with Botox allows the corners of the mouth to elevate. We sometimes also support this area with Dermal Filler.
Scarring
Scar tissue replaces normal skin tissue following skin damage whether caused by accidents, surgery or conditions such as severe acne..
Scar tissue is made up of the same substance as undamaged skin but it looks different because of the way the fibres in the tissue are arranged. Both scar tissue and normal skin are made with the same collagen proteins. They look different however because of the way the collagen is arranged. In regular skin, the collagen proteins overlap in many random directions, but in scar tissue, they generally align in one direction.
This gives the scar a different texture to the surrounding skin. Scar tissue is also not as flexible as normal skin, and does not have a normal blood supply, sweat glands, or hair. Scar tissue tends to produce tethers to underlying tissue which fixes them in position and contracts and pulls in surrounding healthy skin.
How can we treat scars?
It is usually not possible to remove scars completely but there are procedures that we can use to reduce their appearance.
Under local or surface unaesthetic we can gently sever the tethers that anchor the scar. We an use an enzyme called Hyaluronidase to soften and reduce the fibrous appearance of the scar. Using a reversible dermal filler such as Juvederm we can replace the lost volume and blend the site into the surrounding healthy skin. This final procedure may need to be repeated periodically over the next few years.
What Else Can We Do?
Application of Bio-oil can help. Alison can show you how to use our fabulous range of Youngblood make-up to cover up any residual signs of a scar.

Crow’s Feet
Crow’s feet are caused by the contraction of the Orbicularis Occuli muscle, giving rise to the lines that radiate from the outer corners of the eye. Muscle relaxing injections of Botox are the primary treatment for this condition and reduce the appearance of these lines on smiling.
For lines that are present when we are completely relaxed, the use of a fine Dermal Filler such as Juvederm Ultra 2 effectively reduces them. The combination of Botox and Filler together produces the best result.
Signs of Ageing
With the passage of time the shape of the face changes from a triangle broadest at the top to a triangle narrow at the top and broader at the base. We lose volume; so that the youthful smooth convex contours are replaced by concave ones. The elevator muscles that hold the tissues up become weaker and the depressor muscles become stronger. So that together with the effect of gravity, facial features sag and move ‘South’. The jaw line weakens and the corners of the mouth droop.
From the age of thirty we lose one per cent of facial collagen every year. Together with loss of elastin and fat the ‘upholstery’ of the face becomes thinner.
The time for cell renewal increases with age. As teenagers the surface layer of cells is replaced almost weekly whilst in our sixties this process can take up to six weeks. So the surface is made up of older cells with an accumulation of dead skin.
The facial skeleton shrinks with age. Eye and nose sockets enlarge so that eyes appear more deeply set and the tip of the nose droops. The integrity of the lower jaw line diminishes, as bone is lost.
Older skin shows the accumulative effects of sun damage and life style factors such as smoking, dehydration, poor diet and stress.
At Maison Aesthetique we can help address these changes. We enjoy discussing your options at a relaxed in depth consultation.
